Treat others as you want to be treated.

You’ve heard or seen that before right? Simple advice right? Yes, it is so why do some people struggle to follow it?

Maybe because some people are just arseholes! We’ve all come across them and we may have the misfortune of having to endure them on a daily basis be that at work or at home; some poor souls might have to contend with both.

All the time human beings are human beings, there will always be (insert any word similar to richardhead) and there is absolutely no point whatsoever trying to change them so don’t waste your energy. On the flip side, there will always be beautiful (inside) people who permanently radiate and are well worth being around. In the middle are those who are capable of being decent just as much as they’re capable of being a knob.

I’m one of them. Whilst I try my best to treat others as I’d like to be treated, I can be rude, obnoxious, ignorant or aggressive but, and I think this is a key point, I’m 99% of the time aware of myself when behaving that way. It’s the people who are totally ignorant to their own ignorance that need someone to be brutally honest with them about their behaviour.

And do you know one of life’s weird quirks regarding these people? They’re often in managerial roles in the workplace or harbour ambitions to get promoted into one! I’ve seen it with my own eyes time and time again and have no doubt I will continue to come across examples of people who are wholly unsuitable to lead people in a role doing exactly that. I know I’m not alone with this and anyone reading this will most likely be nodding their head thinking of at least 1 person fitting this description…

These people will continuously blame different people for the same supposed infraction against them without realising that maybe just maybe the issue isn’t with others and is with them.

These people will put their own needs and agenda ahead of anyone else regardless of whether that person is under their leadership.

These people struggle with or are incapable of admitting fault and saying that BIG SCARY WORD….sorry.

These people think the rules don’t apply to them but come down hard on anyone in the team who breaks them.

Basically, these people treat others in the opposite way to how they want to be treated!

And if you work for one of these people, for the sake of your career and health – get another job.
